The
second volume of the Catalog
of Alexandria University Manuscripts covers the rest of the collection where the first volume ends with the
letter ‘Sīn.’ The catalog in hand comprises the manuscripts
starting with ‘Šīn’ (al-Šajara
li-Izhār al-Thamara- ‘The Tree to Bring Out the Fruit’ by ‘Izz al-Dīn
al-Maqdisiy) down to the letter ‘Wāw’ (Wūfūr
al-Fadl wa al-Minna fī Šarh Manzūmat Ibn al-Šuhnna-
‘Lavishness of Favor and Grace in the Interpretation of the Manzūma
(treatise in verse) of Ibn al-Šuhnna ’ by Ibn ‘Illān).
It is worth noting that after the publication of the two volumes the
Alexandria University moved its general library from its previous old
building into a new one that is more appropriate to keep its assorted
holdings. During this process, a new collection of manuscripts that
were misplaced between the prints came into light! Hence, I prepared a
catalog that was published in the magazine of the Institute of Arabic
Manuscripts under the title Supplement
of the Catalog of Alexandria University Manuscripts.
Number
of pages: 429.
Institute
of Arabic Manuscripts, Cairo, 1995.
