The
catalog in hand adds the final touches to the cataloging of Rifā‘a
al-Tahtāwiy’s manuscript collection amounting 1410 volumes
apart from the Holy Qur’an copies. It opens with the outstanding
book of al-Kāšif li-Ma‘ānī al-Qasīda al-Nayyira-
‘Revealing the Meaning of al-Qasīda
al-Nayyira (luminous poem)’ by al-Bajā’iy
(Muhammad bin-Muhammad bin-Abīl-Qāsim al-Maghribiy
al-Malikiy, d. 865 H.) as related by Abū ‘Amr bin-al-‘Alā’,
and ends with al-Yawāqīt
(al-Jawāhir) al-Thamīna fī Sifāt (Fadā’il)
al-Samīna- ‘Precious Rubies (Gems) in the Attributes
(Merits) of Plump Woman’ by al-Suyūtiy (Jalāl al-Dīn
‘Abdul-Rahmān bin-Abī-Bakr, d. 911 H.). The catalog is
supplemented with indices of the three volumes including authors, arts
and subjects, calligraphers, autographs, and manuscripts written
within the lifetime of their authors.
