The
second volume of the Catalog of Alexandria Municipal Library
comprises a comprehensive descriptive cataloging of the 407 Sufi
manuscripts from the collections of the Municipal Library of
Alexandria, in addition to a general introduction and pictorial
selections of the most significant ones. Among the rarities reviewed
in the catalog: al-Masā’il
al-Maqnūna- ‘Concealed Matters’ by al-Hakīm al-Turmudhiy (d. 320 H.)
transcribed in 593 H., classified with the number 3575/ C
(Miscellaneous Arts); a rare old copy of al-Luma
fī al-Tasawwuf- ‘Highlights in Sufism’ by al-Sirāj al-Tūsiy (d. 344 H.)
probably dated back to the six century of the Hijra and classified
with the number 1376/B (Sufism); Miškāt
al-Anwār wa Misfāt al-Asrār- ‘The Lamp of Lights and the Strainer of Secrets’
by the Authority of Islam Abū-Hāmid al-Ghazāliy (d. 505
H.) transcribed in 907 H., classified with the number 1782/ D
(Sufism); and many other Sufi masterpieces.
