The
catalog comprises detailed description of 340 manuscripts constituting
the two collections of Damanhur Municipal Library and the Local Mosque
of Rosetta (both towns lay within the territory of the Governorate of
al-Bahira in the west north of the Delta of the Nile). Among the most
important rarities reviewed in the catalog are Idāh
al-Muškil fī Ahkām al-Khunthā al-Muškil-
‘Revealing the Obscure in the Judgments of the Hermaphrodite
Issue’ by al-Isnawiy; Tajrīd
Dīwān al-Hayawān-
‘Abstraction of Divan al-Hayawān’ by Armūniy; al-Dur
al-Yatīm- ‘Unequaled Pearls’ by al-Barkawiy; Šarh
Lāmiyyat al-Busayriy-
‘Interpretation of Lāmiyyat (Poem Rhyming in lām) of
al-Busayriy’ by al-Jārim; Kunūz
al-Haqā’iq wa mā al-Zād Illā fī Inqitā‘
al-Khalā’iq- ‘Treasures of Truths: Provisions are Attainable by Absolute Devotion
to God’ by Muhammad Sa‘īd; and al-Fatāwiy-
‘Futwas’ by Ibn al-Mū’ayid. As for the oldest ones, they
are: al-Ta‘rīfāt- ‘Definitions’ by al-Jurjāniy (transcribed in 950
H.); Kašf al-Wāfiya fī Šarh al-Kāfiya-
‘Illumination of al-Wāfiya
in the Interpretation of al-Kāfiya’
by al-Halabiy (transcribed in 910 H.); and Fath
al-Mannān fī Tafsīr al-Qur’ān- ‘Donations of the Benefactor in the Interpretation
of the Holy Qur’ān’ by al-Širāziy (transcribed in
960 H.).
