The
first volume includes 240 manuscripts from the collection of Religious
Institute in Sumūha pertaining to logic, mathematics, and natural
sciences, in addition to a comprehensive index of the collection of
the Institute numbering 1776 manuscripts, and a supplement of the
unclassified ones! The collection was originally in the possession of
the al-Shaykh Mosque that was known as al-Azhar of Alexandria. It was
moved to the Institute in Sumūha on the outskirts of Alexandria.
It comprises exquisite works on assorted fields of knowledge. Among
the most significant manuscripts reviewed in the catalog are: al-Wafī
fī al-Fiqh- ‘The Sufficent Book on Jurisprudence’ by
al-Nasafiy transcribed in 725 H., Khulāsat
Mukhtasar al-Qaddūriy- ‘The Quintessence of the
Compendium of al-Qaddūriy’ transcribed in 714 H., Mawsū‘at
al-Hidāya
fī Fiqh al-Šāfi‘iyya-
‘The Guiding Encyclopedia of al-Shafi‘i Jurisprudence’ by
al-Murghināniy transcribed in 752 H., Talqīh al-Adhhān fī Masā’il
Dhawiy al-Arhām-
‘Inoculation of Minds in Matters of Relatives’ by Abūl-‘Alā’
al-Kalbāziy. It was transcribed in 699 H., and many others. The
collection also includes sacred copies of Book of Psalms and Moses’
Tables of the Decalogue, of which digital copies are available on the
site.
