The
fifth volume of the Catalog
of Alexandria Municipal Library
covers the works pertaining to prophetic traditions. It contents
number 448 manuscripts of the rarest as well as oldest holdings of the
Library, since the majority were written during the middle ages of the
Arab Islamic civilization, rendering the catalog in hand exceptionally
significant. Moreover, it includes the oldest manuscript in the entire
collection, al-Jāmi‘ al-Sahīh- ‘The Comprehensive Corpus of Accurate Hadith’ (prophetic
traditions) by Imam Muslim, transcribed in 368 H.
