from the celebrities of Sufi poets such as Ibn al-Fārid and Jalāl
al-Dīn al-Rūmiy, the book throws light on a group of unknown
Sufi poets, whose works have never been unpublished, inter alios: Samnūn
al-Muhib (d. 297 H.); Abū ‘Aliy al-Rūdhbāriy (d. 322
H.); Šihāb al-Dīn al-Suhrawardiy (murdered in 587 H.);
Abū Midiyan al-Ghawth (d. 594 H.); Rašīd al-Dīn
bin-Khalīfa (d. 616 H.); Najm al-Dīn Kubrā (martyred in
618 H.); Abūl-Hasan al-Šuštariy (d. 668 H.) and Najm
al-Dīn bin-Isarā’īl (d. 677 H.). The book presents
chapters from their lives as well as selections from their poetry.
