Through
the collation of nine different manuscripts and seven printed editions
of the original divan of ‘Abdul Kādir al-Jīlāniy’,
the final authenticated and revised version came into existence. The
first part comprises the Sufi poems and the second contains the
symbolic writings. The contents were not included in a particular
manuscript, but rather they were collected from the abovementioned
sources with ample commentary, vowelization, and interpretation of the
text, as well as the necessary indices. It is noteworthy that the book
constitutes the second part of the author’s PhD dissertation, which
he attained from the Alexandria University with summa cum laude in
1989.
