al-Nādirāt
al-‘Ayniyya by ‘Abdul Karīm al-Jīliy
(d. 826 H.) is considered as one of the masterpieces of Sufi
Poetry. A long poem comprising 534 lines of engaging Sufi expression.
The book presents the authenticated text of the poem collated with
fives manuscripts, with selections from ‘Abdul Ghaniy
al-Nābulsiy’s
(d. 1143 H.). The author provides comprehensive marginal notes of the
terms and subtle Sufi concepts that al-Jīliy conveys in his work,
and the ones discussed by al-Nābulsiy in his interpretation known
as al-Ma‘ārif
al-Ghaybiyya fī Šarh al-‘Ayniyya al-Jīliyya-
‘The Unseen Knowledge in the Interpretation of the al-‘Ayniyya by
al-Jīliy.’
